Apparently, Chevrolet India transformed the Spark into a sedan and named it “Essentia”
Dat beltline doe
Beltline so high, it’s like it’s giving itself a wedgie!
Like a Ferrari, you get luggage bags with it (at least in concept car form)
Let’s hope the rear passengers are keen into sharing drinks

I always wonder, are the people in India who get these tiny ass cars ok with that?
I mean are they secretly lusting after Yukons and Expeditions or are they genuinely like “fuck yeah I love the looks of this little car!”
Seems odd. I mean I know space is at a serious premium in the majority of the populated areas of the country but damn.

It needs to be its own horrible little racing league. “Only the Essentias”.

I think it has to do with tax brackets. Look at what VW did just to slot into sub-4 meter class
Polo sedan (4384mm)
Bobcut Polo sedan aka Ameo (3995mm)

makes it feel like the putting a set of wheels are an afterthought

Reminds me of the old Echos, very awkward. India is a strange market too, my wife wants to go back, I want to relax, it is not a relaxing place!

Most of India has no car, you are doing very well to get one of these and a modernish home. You can hire a person to do all the housework and cooking for 20 pounds a week.

That is pretty terrible, even by the already low aesthetic standards of subcompact and city car notchbacks.

Nice interior. A shame the exterior isn’t equally as nice. It, and the Mazda 2 have the same strange little rounded fender to upward line kink which I don’t like. If it weren’t for that... and the fact I don’t live in India...
Also, is there any technical reason why the belt line has to be so high on the rear? It seems like there’s hardly any window at all.

Being a hatchback before becoming a sedan seems to make the beltline an afterthought. Here are other examples:
Mirage sedan
Honda Brio started as a hatchback
...morphed into a sedan, the Amaze (lol)
...then became an 7-seater MPV, the Mobilio
(Look at how big the doors are compared with the wheels!)
Also, the Fiesta sedan, Suzuki Swift sedan (they call it the dZire in India LOL) and Echo sedan and almost every other hatchback-turned-sedans...
